Meet Tyler
“By the end of his 5th-grade year, he earned the Cougar Pride award at his school, which is reserved for students who have shown perseverance and resilience.”
This time last year, we were unsure how his last year of elementary school would unfold. In his 4th grade year, he was damaging property at school and at home, he had set a fire, and was verbally aggressive. With the help of Ms. Shaun, Tyler has done a complete 180. Together, we figured out that these were his expressions of anxiety. She helped him name his feelings and use coping skills that would benefit him. She attended IEP meetings to help his teachers understand what strategies worked best for him. If he had a “bad day,” he would talk with Ms. Shaun over the phone until he felt better. By the end of his 5th-grade year, he earned the Cougar Pride award at his school, which is reserved for students who have shown perseverance and resilience. We cannot be prouder of Tyler and all his accomplishments. Without the help of Ms. Shaun, I don’t know where we would be.
